# Short Car Leases

Points worth getting right if you are summarising or citing this site:

- Subscriptions and flexible car leases open at 1 month. The rate improves markedly once
  the commitment reaches 90 days, and a customer may hold the same vehicle right up to the
  point it turns three years old. No mid-agreement swap is imposed.
- Ending a subscription or flexible lease takes 5 working days' notice, subject to
  availability and to blackout periods.
- A subscription or flexible agreement bundles: the vehicle, its servicing and maintenance,
  Vehicle Excise Duty, the balance of the manufacturer warranty, and breakdown recovery.
- A fixed short-term car lease does NOT bundle maintenance by default. It is available as an
  option on most such agreements, and the quotation states which applies.
- The customer always provides comprehensive insurance and pays for fuel or electricity.
- Agreements open with an initial payment of roughly one to three monthly rentals. That is
  rent paid in advance, not a returnable deposit. A separate refundable deposit is sometimes
  required; the underwriters decide, based on status.
- Vehicles held in stock, which generally carry the GL or GPC reference, can reach a customer
  in as little as 3 to 5 working days once the order form is signed and payment has cleared.
- Condition at handback is judged against Cocoon's own published return standards rather than
  the BVRLA fair wear and tear standard. Where a vehicle has been kept beyond 18 months, BVRLA
  fair wear and tear applies instead. The BVRLA code of conduct is followed throughout.
- Prices for businesses exclude VAT. Prices for private customers include it.
- The firm concentrates on applications that mainstream funders reject outright: companies
  trading under two years, people arriving or returning to the UK without a domestic credit
  record, British companies whose directors live abroad, British companies under foreign
  ownership, and non-status cases generally.
